I currently have Klipsch RF7s and need to know if I am making a mistake going to Altec model 19s? I will be using the speaker in a two fold mode 2 channel and Home theater.
Thanks

Only you can make that decision. It's a little difficult (literally, at almost 150 lbs. each) to bring a pair of 19's home to audition. Maybe the fact that 19's aren't all that easy to find to begin with says something about their desirability.

I like the RF7 but they are not in the same league as the 19s. Maybe the LaScala is. I think you might find the 19s a lot more robust and visural than the RF7. Try to find some one in your area that has a pair for a listen. Cheers.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The LaScala is NOT in the same league as the 19's. I've done a few side by side comparisons of the LaScala's and my Model-15's. My Model-15's were better. Mid-base on the 15's were better, and Mids were better. I also found the highs on the 15's better. The LaScala's got down lower, but not by much and for the base drum they sounded thumpy...My 15's sounded crips and clear. Also depends on what year LaScala you get. They changed drivers (and manufacturers) a lot over the years.
And I think the 19's are better then my 15's.

What about the bass output? The model 19s from spec. standards seem to go lower while I do feel the midrange should be better than the RF7. I also have a pair on Klipschorns how would they compare against them?

The base output of the 19's is EXCELLENT. I've never been of fan of the base in Klipsch. The base response of their speakers seems muffled to me. My 15's with 12" had better base then the LaScala's with the 15". Sure the LaScala could put out more volume (i.e. louder), but the base was wasn't as good. The 19's base is as good as it gets. Crisp, Clear and low.

I have a pair of 19,s and they have a sound that is for sure, but is it the best and most crisp and deepest out there??? I would be misleading you if i made that statement. I would say they have a nice presence but not the most accurate
